PREVIEW

EU-funded project for Promoting Resilience and Employability in uniVersity students through Internship for futurE Work

This three-year project aims to promote innovative online learning and teaching practices to train university students and graduates on the skills needed to address the challenges arising from the digital age. The project envisages the design of an innovative university course that through remote internships and other e-Learning activities, will enable students and graduates to develop the employability competencies required by the remote working scenario.

Students and graduates will be trained - through e-learning activities - with competencies to address the challenges of distance and effectively work remotely: e.g. how to use different technologies, and how to collaborate in virtual teams. Subsequently, they will have the opportunity to applicate these competencies during remote internships and verify to what extent they are able to work remotely, and effectively collaborate with distant colleagues.

This Project has received funding from the European Union under the Grant Agreement n. 2022-1-IT02-KA220-HED-000088742

Main Objectives

1) Training university students and graduates that have not yet entered the labour market to increase their employability skills.

2) Design of an innovative student-centered university course.

3) Enhancement of digital skills and non-digital skills essential for the future labour market.

Project PREVIEW runs in parallel to the AlterContacts Academy for Sustainable Development, aligned to several main European programs: Next Generation EU, The Digital Agenda for Europe, The strategic framework for European Cooperation in Education and Training 2020 (ET2020), the European Skills Agenda. It tackles three key societal issues: School-to-work transition; Youth development and employment; and Social inclusion. The AlterContacts Academy for Sustainable Development is a UN-registered SDG Partnership #SDGAction43794 and we are testing the service blueprint from the PREVIEW project with our volunteers from participating universities worldwide.

Promoting Resilience and Employability in university students through Internships for futurE Work

Survey: Ideal Remote Internship

The project was tasked to design a way students could do internships remotely. In order to do that, we needed to understand what would be the perfect remote internship for a student, a university representative, and a company that hosts it. Here below is the map of the countries surveyed.

Online Platfrom Launched

The EU-funded project PREVIEW is entering its final stage. We are piloting an online platform to equip students with the skills necessary for the remote internship. There are five courses available. They are dedicated to Digital skills, Soft skills, Socio-emotional competencies, Design Thinking methodology, and Project Management. Digital Skills for Remote Work

Digital competence for a remote internship is the ability to effectively use digital technologies to perform tasks, communicate, and collaborate in a virtual work environment. This includes proficiency with relevant software and tools, digital communication skills, and the ability to troubleshoot common technical issues. This is a self-paced course, fully online. It is divided into six self-paced modules and takes about 7 hours to complete.

Soft Skills for Remote Work

Soft skills are a set of personal attributes, behaviors, and interpersonal abilities that enable individuals to interact effectively and harmoniously with others. Unlike hard skills, which are job-specific and measurable technical abilities, soft skills are more about how individuals relate to others, manage their emotions, and approach tasks in diverse environments. This is a self-paced course fully online. It is divided into seven self-paced modules and takes about 7 hours to complete.

Socio-Emotional Competences

Socio-emotional competences refer to the skills that enable individuals to understand and manage emotions, build positive relationships, make responsible decisions, and handle social interactions effectively. These competences are essential for personal well-being and effective interpersonal functioning. This is a self-paced course, fully online. It is divided into six self-paced modules and takes about 5 hours to complete.

Project Management for Remote Working

Project management can significantly enhance the efficacy and success of remote internships. Developing project management competences means gaining the knowledge and skills to define and self-monitor the scope, objectives, and deliverables of your internship projects. This includes creating detailed project plans, setting measurable goals, managing time efficiently and maintaining clear, effective communication with team members and supervisors.

Design Thinking Methodology

In essence, Service Design Thinking fuels our creativity, enhances our precision, and enables us to deliver human-centered solutions that make a real difference. It’s a journey of learning, applying, and evolving - one that drives us toward success in every project we undertake. This is a self-paced course, fully online. It takes about 5 hours to complete.
